Last night's show at the
Last Concert Cafe was righteous. We rocked out and ate a lot of watermelon. Thanks to everybody who came out and supported the cause, and to all the other bands who rocked out (Fahl & Folk, Blendt, Potroast, Opie Hendrixs, The Hightailers, and Plump).

For any of y'all in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area - Ian's going to be filling in on keys with
Topaz at the Green Elephant tonight at 11pm. Should be a wild show - if you've never heard Topaz, it's super tight funk with awesome musicians. Definitely a dancing kinda thing. Go check it.
Our friend,
Radio Mike, is looking for some help - he's trying to raise money for podcast licensing fees and equipment. He's played DT on the show several times, and is a great supporter of new talent. If you can, swing by and
show him some love.
We've updated the pricing in our
albums section as follows:
-
Cezanne - $10
-
Leap - $10
-
Big Dipper - $18 (we're almost out of stock, but you can still buy it online through
several sources)
For $15, you get both
Cezanne and Leap.
For any of you who have ever appreciated anything written by the great David Cobb in
Houston Calling: he's holding a happy hour tonight (Monday, 7/24) at
The Proletariat in Houston, from 6-10pm.
Here's a flyer. The line-up includes
The Dimes,
Sitka Sound,
Miranda Sound, and
Tody Castillo. The first band starts at 6:30 and it''ll be over by 10pm (all ages).
You should go, by the way. It'll be
boss.
In a recently released study, the US Department of Nutrition & Baking warned Americans against serious deficiencies of Vitamin W, a little known nutrient found primarily in Watermelons.
Don't worry, though - we've got you covered. On July 29th, head to the
Last Concert Cafe in Houston, TX, for the 20th annual watermelon festival, sponsored by
KPFT. You'll get your fill of the elusive vitamin W, as well as a lineup of 8 great Houston bands, and Drop Trio:
Fahl & Folk 4 - 4:45pm
Scott Daniels Band 5 - 5:45

We've added a few new ways you can keep track of the
Drop Trio shows calendar.
First, if you use
Google Calendar, you can now
subscribe to Drop Trio's public shows. That way, our shows calendar will appear as an additional calendar when you log in to google calendar.
If you use other calendar software like
Apple's iCal or
Mozilla Sunbird, you can
subscribe to our ical feed. Then our events will show up in your calendar app.
Or if you don't do either of those, but want to see the latest up-to-the-minute changes and additions in our schedule, you can
view a live calendar on the web.
Who loves ya? That's right, Google does. Oh, and
us.
Thanks to everybody who came out to the
Extemporama show at
Super Happy Fun Land on Saturday night. We had a blast, and really enjoyed playing a set of all-improvised analog synth madness. We'll put some audio up for your enjoyment soon. Big thanks to
JamHouston for making it happen, and to
Blabat, Muzak John, and Friendship Bracelet for bringing their own awesome contributions of rad improvised music.
We had a great time at last night's
Geek Party. We were a little disappointed that nobody recognized the
stinkoman theme, however. Come on, are we really the biggest geeks at a geek party?
Anybody?
Well, if you'd rather hear us play crazy improv, you're in luck tonight:
Howdy all! Hope you're having a good summer. We've been taking it real chill-like for a few weeks, but we're about ready to pop back into gear again.
First off, please consider voting for Drop Trio in the "Best Jazz" category on the
Houston Press Music Awards.
Second, come see us this weekend in Houston! We've got 2 cool (and unusual) shows coming up.
On Friday, we'll be at
Dean's Credit Clothing celebrating the 11 year anniversary of the
Technology Bytes radio show on
KPFT. It's open to the public and free to get in (21 + over only), so come unleash your inner geek. Or hell, even your outer geek.
Then, on Saturday, we'll be performing at
Super Happy Fun Land as part of JamHouston's
Extemporama series! Should be a wacky night. We'll be sharing the stage with 3 of our favorite weird-ass bands in Houston:
Muzak John, Friendship Bracelet, and
Blabat (with Jarle Lillemoen from
Grass and
Groovin' Ground on guitar!).
See you then!
