Monday, January 31, 2005 - And we're back in the game

Our shows this weekend were a great start to 2005.

Port City Java is a comfy little coffee shop nestled up in the Woodlands. We played for a bunch of our good northern friends (I guess y'all aren't quite north enough to call "Yankees", eh?) and managed to work the rust out of all of our gear.

Saturday night at Helios was a really special show. We loved playing in such a good sounding room, to a crowd that was really into it and giving us their undivided attention (and thanks for calling us "punk rock", Shane). Big ups to Friends of the Enemy and Revolt Of The Sun, looking forward to playing with you both again. We will be back at Helios before long.

This week, we'll be hitting Brasil on Friday night.

Friday, January 28, 2005 - New Year, New Venues, New Songs

Tonight at Port City Java in the Woodlands, TX join us as we play our first show of the new year.

Saturday we hit Helios in Houston for what is sure to be a surprising night. Improv, noise and new songs.

To celebrate the end of our 7 week hiatus we are releasing an entire show on the live archive. The show was recorded 10/23/04 at the Last Concert Cafe and runs just over 75 minutes.

Friday, January 21, 2005 - John Jackson Trio tonight

Tonight at Funk Jazz Fridays, come see the John Jackson Organ Trio, straight in from Baton Rouge, LA. John Smart, the organ player (weird, no?) is the front man for Righteous Buddha, and anybody familiar with them will agree that this man lays down some mighty B-3 chops. And yes, he does actually bring a real Hammond B-3 organ with him into Brasil, for all you Hammond enthusiasts out there. So go check it out. Amen.

Thursday, January 20, 2005 - Live ahhhhrchive

Here's this week's track: Mothership, from The Proletariat on Dec. 12th (our final 2004 show).

Also, if you tried to email any of us today and got a bounce back, try again. We were having web problems. The people responsible have been sacked.

Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - Holy Crap

Wow. The Jacob Fred show at Rhythm Room was incredible.

The Dead Kenny G's opened up the show. Brian Haas (JFJO), Mike Dillon (Hairy Apes BMX) and Skerik (Critters Buggin', Garage A Trois, etc.). It sounded like 6 people up on stage. No, scratch that; it sounded like 6 crazy people on stage. It ruled!

JFJO hit the stage around 11:30 and blew everybody away. It was nice to see them here in town; props to all of you who showed out for it (there was a great crowd, especially for a Tuesday night). Hopefully they'll be back again soon. :)

Sunday, January 16, 2005 - Funk Jazz Jedi

This Tuesday (01.18.05), for the love of Pete get over to the Rhythm Room. The Fred (One of our favorite bands on the planet) is here.

Friday, January 14, 2005 - Live Music this Weekend

So, there are no Drop Trio shows this weekend, but there IS a ton of good music going on. Here are our picks:

Friday

Saturday

Plenty of other choices as well. Get out there and see some live music, it's looking to be a beautiful weekend.

Thursday, January 13, 2005 - Live archive

New track in the live archive this week - Wet Dog, from Brasil on May 14th. We recorded it to multi-track with our friend Greg Lizee, and he did a mixdown that came out sounding awesome. Thanks Greg! :)

Friday, January 07, 2005 - The Psychodillos Rock Out Tonight

Tonight, don't miss the first edition of Funk Jazz Fridays 2005 at Brasil. Tonight's band is The Psychodillos - with Brad Martin at the helm, and tonight, a special appearance on bass by Jeremy Horton of Moses Guest. The show starts at 10pm, and there's no cover, so come on down to Brasil and get some.

Thursday, January 06, 2005 - Live Archive

New track added to the live archive - a recent performance of "Leap", the title track from the new album, at Funk Jazz Fridays at Brasil.

Plus, sorry for being a bit late, but we did get one up for last week as well - a crazy performance of the Doors' "Not To Touch The Earth", at the Art Studio in Beaumont. Crazy stuff. Enjoy.

Sunday, January 02, 2005 - MySpace

After much prodding, we have finally created a page on MySpace. You can see profiles of other friends of ours, find other local bands we dig, leave comments, etc. Pretty nifty. Come be our friend.

Saturday, January 01, 2005 - Merry new year!

Hope you all had a great year in 2004 - we did, and we're looking forward to a lot more in 2005.
