Happy Halloween, everybody.
In honor of the holiday, we give you the scariest track in our live archive:
The Schlort Monster. Play it at your halloween parties tonight.
I wanted to post a link of Nuje & Patrick singing, but I didn't want to
seriously freak anybody out. I mean, just look at 'em ...
Everybody in the College Station / Bryan area, get on down to
Revolution tonight for a wild old time with Drop Trio. Our pals Phat Teddy Bear (Phil Jones, Al Bear, and Ted Camat) will play first at 9, then Drop Trio comes on at 10:30. We'll have our new album
Cezanne for sale. See you there!
Tonight we will be in the west (sort of) Texas town of Bellville playing at the
Fainting Goat. It's only an hour drive (sort of) from Houston so you folks on the West side have no excuse for not coming...
sort of.
Here's a little
video to get you in the mood for crazy avant-prog-jazz-noise.
Great
review of the new CD,
Cezanne, in
All About Jazz today. Thanks to David Cobb of
Houston Calling!
We had a rad time playing at
Cactus Records Saturday. Thanks to all of you who came out and bought the
new cd.
Thanks
JV for the pics.
Big thanks to all of you who came out to the CD release party last night. You guys are truly wonderful listeners, and we had an amazing time playing for you. What do you think of the CD?
We've had one or two requests from our fans who are under 21 years of age to have a CD release party at a spot they can get to. So we've decided to do a surprise show at our old stomping grounds,
Brasil, on Friday Nov. 4th. Come party with us then!
A note to our friends who are Astros fans:
OK, let's face the facts. We know you're not going to come to our CD release party tonight because of the Astros game. Can we blame you? Of course not. It's the first game the Astros have ever played in the world series. We'd be watching too if we didn't have our own CD release party to go to. We can't blame you for not coming ... but we
can guilt you into
buying our CD online, right? :)
To all the non baseball fans out there: see you tonight!! Cezanne (4100 Montrose) for the CD release party for Drop Trio's new live album, Cezanne. We'll start at 9pm sharp so don't be late.
In honor of our
new album, we've got an updated web site design. Let us know what you think about all the green-y goodness.
What a rad week we're having.
1)
Cezanne is out!
2) Astros are in the World Series. (Ian thinks the World Series is a computer term, but I still hang with him).
3) Our old pal
Nino is a father times 2. His son Joaquin was born Oct. 18 and we couldn't be happier for him.
Those of you in sunny San Antonio today can tune in to
KRTU 91.7 fm to hear some cuts off of
Cezanne and an interview with Ian. (Those of you not in San Antonio can tune in online, too!)
Those of you in Houston can tune in this evening on
KPFT 90.1 - we'll be on the
Technology Bytes radio show starting at 7pm, talking and playing a tune or two from the new album.
Our CD release parties got a nice mention in this month's
Indie From The Inside Out (PDF) newsletter, by
Icon Magazine. Thanks guys!
Our new disc
"Cezanne" is less than a week away from release. But, because I am so nice, and because
I pretty much run the show 'round here, I have decided to release one track, "Shelby" on our
Live Archive. Cezanne was recorded live and
mostly acoustic at Houston's premier jazz venue
Cezanne's. New songs on the album include "Luna," "L.U.G." and "Shelby". The album also includes interpretations of two songs from our improvised studio album
"Leap", and extended treatments of six songs from our first album,
"Big Dipper". Check out the
press release for the album and our new
press kit.
Please go to our
shows page for upcoming CD release shows in your town.
Here's a pic from the Zap show in Bryan, TX. Two things are obvious in this picture. 1) Ian's taping device is front and center on the stage, meaning we should have some music from the show to share. 2) Ian's wife needs to go on the road with him as a fashion consultant. :)
Thanks to
Jamie for the pic.
This weekend, you can catch Ian playing with a new side project, called "Zap!". Zap is composed of Matt Coleman (drummer for
Collect All Five), Topaz (sax player with his own band,
Topaz) and Ian on keys & left hand bass. Should be a couple crazy, funky nights of improv - come check it out! Here's the info:
Friday, 10/7
The Link - 211 Old Tyler Road
Nacogdoches, TX
Saturday, 10/8
Revolution - 211 B South Main St.
Bryan, TX
Hope to see you there.
