You've all got your calendars marked for our May 21st show at Cezanne, right? Good. (Or if you're in Austin, our May 14th show at Elephant Room.)

And you nominated us for the Houston Press Awards, right? Good.

Now then ... there's a few things goin' on this weekend you should catch.

Thursday night:

The Psychodillos play Rudyards
Melvin Sparks @ Rhythm Room

Friday night:

6pm - TALA Annual Post-Gala Art Sale - complementary wine and hors d'oeuvres @ the TALA offices, 1540 Sul Ross. (Free booze, eh?)
7pm - Geek gathering @ Kaveh Kanes (free geeks, eh?)
8pm - In the mood for jazz? Kellye Gray @ Magnolia ($15)
9pm - In the mood to rock? Arthur Yoria, Pale & Orange Is In play Rudyards. It's a roundtable supports show, so all you musicians, come support the scene. $5 cover (if you're a musician with the roundtable, otherwise $6)
10pm - In the mood for funk? The BatonRouge-based John Jackson Organ Trio @ Funk Jazz Fridays (at Brasil) (featuring the organ player from Righteous Buddha, playing a real hammond B3). Free show.

Saturday night:

6:45 pm - Houston Press Nominating Party @ The Meridian
8pm - Groovefest @ LCC. This is Jeremy Horton's first serious festival, and it's got a killer lineup:
- Hairy Apes BMX
- A>S>H>S
- Plump
- Zwee
- Transit (experimental instrumental)
- DJ LION 808 (drummer from dubtex)

So as you can see, there's absolutely no excuse for sitting around doing nothing this weekend. Unless you're sick as a dog, like I am, in which case, drink plenty of liquids and rest up.
